I’ve got a 2013-2014 MacBook Pro and I am looking to upgrade the OS to High Sierra. I’d like to know if the new Lightroom cc (7.2) updates now make it compatible with the newer OS before I upgrade. I appreciate any help on this subject.

I am not sure you can get lightroom now except by subscription but I too am interested in the responses you get to your question

I’ve been a subscriber for a few years now. Made everything easier and I like not having to worry about paying for updates. For me it seemed more cost effective to have the cc version.

You can check the compatibility of all your programs at ROARINGAPPS.COM. PS: I recommend you purchase the reference MacOS High Sierra the missing manual by David Pogue. Chief Rob

I run High Sierrra on my iMac - did not even think twice about upgrading my Lightroom Classic and Photoshop CC software yesterday.... not a hiccup, Lightroom running fine here on High Sierra.

Since I run Time Machine 24x7 on my iMac, as well as have a complete backup of everything in the cloud with Crashplan, restoring an old copy of Lightroom quickly would be a snap, and of course my images are never touched by a Lightroom upgrade anyway, so no harm, no foul.

FWIW - I have also been running previous versions of Photoshop CC & Lightroom Classic CC prior to the recent upgrade on High Sierra with no problems.

Thanks for your response Dngallagher. When I went and googled this online a few days ago some had horror stories of crashes and extremely frustrating slow response time from Lightroom classic cc and photoshop cc so of course I wanted to be cautious. I run time machine on my laptop weekly and before any updates. So maybe I’ll be brave and upgrade to High Sierra.

Kool - just be sure all the software you rely on is OK with HS.

Using High Sierra and latest updates of LR and PS and unless something else has unknowingly changed on my system, the latest Lightroom update no longer allows access to catalog files (.lrcat) that reside on external/removable drives.

That’s not good. All of my images reside on external drives. It would be a disaster to my entire collection. Thanks for the heads up SNicker317.

Images and catalog are two different things, and I am not confirming a catalog cannot remain on an external drive as it has, before assuming and spreading, it might be wise to CONFIRM.

Of course I would agree that it's always best to COMFIRM... Only offered as what my results were after updating, and the error message itself stated it was not allowed.

I realize images and catalogs are different but all my images are on external drives in catalogs. All that is on my main drive are the programs (photoshop and Lightroom) Everything else on external drives. Not sure I understand what you want me to “Confirm”
Sorry I should’ve replied to Dngallagher.
