Hi all,
I just wanted to ask for references of good places to take pictures. I live in Miami.
Thanks

Hi Lianet, I don't live in Miami, but I'd say a good start would be the beach. What are your interests that make you want to pick up a camera?

Just south of you is Everglades National Park. It offers everything from ocean beaches/vistas to a wide variety of habitats ranging from basic wetlands to cypress woodlands. An overall great place for landscapes, birds, alligators, and other wildlife. BTW, this is a great time of year there as we are moving into mating season for most of the birds there.
If you don't mind driving a bit further take I-75 (Alligator Alley) to Everglades City which is on the north side of Everglades National and is known as "10,000 Islands". Terrific place for sunsets and birding - not unusual to see Bald Eagles in that area. On your way to Everglades City you also have many opportunities for landscape photography and birding all along Alligator Alley.
Those locations can keep you busy for an awful long time but if your time is limited you can always shoot at the numerous city parks and beaches - you'll find that even in these more limited areas wildlife is quite diverse and the vistas aren't bad at all.

If you have a smart phone, there are several aps that show places on a map to get photos, and you can pull up photos from that location to see what it looks like.
I have only been in the area a few times, but I think South Beach would be great. What about Coral Gables - I recall visiting an old mansion right on the water there many years ago. There is Butterfly World just north of Miami - that is a fun place to shoot butterflies. Look for fairs and festivals listed in the paper. Swap meets, etc. can be fun.

Everywhere can be a good place to capture images. It all depends on your interests and goals. If you want us to be more specific you really need to give us an idea of what you're looking for.
All of the tourist attractions in the Miami area! It's been years since I've been to the Miami area, but there's the beautiful beach with a light house on Biscayne Bay (I don't know its name!); South Beach; Bayfront Park (just south of Miami)
The county jail booking desk!!!

These apps are great for two things.
1) Finding photographic spots that have worked well for others.
2) Identifying places to avoid if you want to shoot something that others miss.

Photography is about discovering what you like. Not where you are. The play of light on a building at dawn/sunset. reflections in a puddle of rainwater. A pretty girl/boy...the wrinkled face. Fast cars or snaking car lights. The landscape or building site?
get out there!
Miami Beach Japanese Gardens, for two.

First Off I am NOT trying to be an ass (or a smartass)....
Just a simple reminder of what an early photographer once said.....
"Where there is LIGHT, one can make a photograph." = Alfred Stieglitz.
So Anywhere you are -- There You Are. (I have always told my students to Look ALL Around you... You can usually make a photograph every 6 feet from anywhere you are at any time - and for the rest of your life.)

May The Light Be With You...

The secret to good photography is not finding something beautiful to shoot, but in finding the beauty in everything you see. If you can see it, a good place is all around you.
