I've been looking through my archives of surfing photos and found some that I consider worthy to share with my UHH friends.
These are all from Huntington Beach, CA shot from the pier.

I like every one of the surfing photos. I do like #6 as well. The sun shining on the waves combined with the surfers, and the paddle boarder give a wonderful combination. # 7 is amazing because you caught him in the perfect moment, but # 8 is my favorite. This guy is airborne with the line still attached to him (which I am sure he was very grateful for), it looks almost like he was bungee jumping.

These are some of the best surfing photos I have ever seen along with yesterdays post. No.6 – the two on the wave are looking up to your perch on the pier and wondering if they will be immortalized on their wave. I really like the expressions of their excitement and concentration of being on that wave. I have tried to photo the competitions at Mavericks over the last 8 years and have come away with Ziltch.
Your photos have tremendous energy, color, expression caught at the perfect moment. I have downloaded everything . . keep um comin.

Pat, you might like #6 & #9 because they are of the ocean and the curling waves. Nature at it's best!

arperry, Thanks for checking this thread out and your insightful comments. Thanks also for liking every one of the surfing photos. #8 is an interesting one.......the surf leash is stretched out to the max as his board is being launched towards the beach in the surfer's kick out process.

Richard, now you see why I love shooting from the Huntington Beach Pier so much.....the vantage point is killer and you get much closer to the surfers by walking out on the pier. Thanks for saying this is a good set!

Thank you Luigi9 for the kind thoughts about these surfing photos. I think the reason why you might not have gotten any good surfing photos at Mavericks is becasue you have to shoot so far away from the action. I'm assuming you were on the cliff there and not in a boat. Obviously the vantage point from a boat would be much better than the cliff.
I will keep um comin!

I have been on the cliff and on the beach where the temporary seating got wiped out by waves a few years ago. A boat would have be great in the early days but now the event has gotten so popular . . . too many boats. Some killer waves though.

Will you ever go back and try to photograph it Luigi9? I would love to see your photos of it.
