Request for Florida photo ops.
Hi all,
I expect to be in the northeast region of Florida (Palm Coast/Feglar County) later this month
and wanted to touch base with this forum to find out what sights there are in that area for
photo enthusiasts. (Nothing like being there, leaving, and then finding out what you should
have seen.) :( All suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Rich
Mark Smith has a You Tube channel and has done a book on locations in Florida for bird photography that by all accounts is well done. You did not say what type of photography you were focused on. When I think of Florida it is birds for me.

Plantations, coastal beaches.
St. Augustine has a wonderful Alligator Farm that has nesting birds, (as in big water birds,) in the spring. Jacksonvilles zoo has baby tigers right now and is a wonderful zoo.
Palm Coast/Flagler County.
St Augustine. Plenty of Photo ops. there and Ft. Matanzas.
There are many beautiful arboretum's and nature walks in the area. Additionally, check the schedule for a space x launch.
Saint Augustine is a fantastic city to take pictures. Go to the lighthouse and grab a shot looking up the stairway and then take one looking down the stairway at the lighthouse.

I Second this suggestion. They have a very active rookery with a boardwalk that allows great photography of nesting birds - spoonbills, wood storks, egrets, herons, etc. And this month is the best time to see it. Go early - it gets hot early. If you have a 100-400 zoom it will work well.
You will find a lot of photo ops if you take A1A north along the coast out of Palm Coast. There is an interesting formation of stone called coquina around Marineland. Try to catch it at sunrise if possible. It’s the same stone that was used to build the old fort in Saint Augustine. You can never go wrong in downtown Saint Augustine. The Castillo de San Marcos, the hundred-year-old churches, Flagler College, Lightner Museum all provide great ops for unique architecture. Work your way south of the plaza down Aviles Street for even more if time allows.

We also have the Kingsley Plantation owned by the National Park Service, heading towards Fernandina Beach. Very historical, coquina slave houses still standing, and free.
Saint Augustine is great for photography or architecture, the beach for ocean and sunrise shots, and the list goes on and on.
Washington Oaks State Park on A1A south of Marineland. Park extends from the river to the ocean with the aforementioned cocquina rocks on the beach and beautiful flowers and ponds by the river.
One caution in St. Augustine. The local constabulary are not friendly to visitors during the overnight hours. This is especially true in the Old Town area.
St Augustine (Old Town & Fort), Jacksonville Beach, Jacksonville downtown, the beaches, the beaches, and Oh yeah, the beaches!!
