Reminder!

Please join the Pictorial Photographers of America this Tuesday, February 13th at 7:00PM for our monthly competition.

Upcoming Event notice: Tuesday, February 27 the club will be having a photo shoot at Grand Central Terminal in New York City. There is no charge to participate in this event and it is open to both members and nonmembers. Registration would be required since participation is limited. Permits are needed for Tripods or Monopods and are available on a limited basis.

If anyone in the forum is interested in participating in the photo shoot or needs any information on attending tonight's meeting you may private message me.

The judges for tonight will be Jane Sklar and Max Cartagena.

Jane Sklar is a Cornell University graduate and an award winning artist/photographer. Jane was born and raised in New York City, and currently her studio is in Fort Lee, NJ. Together with her teacher and mentor, Max Cartagena, Jane has perfected a unique style of transforming her original photographs into dazzling digital creations, utilizing a handful of older photo editing and graphics programs without the use of Photoshop®. The business launched in 2011. Jane has shown in the Edward Hopper House in Nyack, NY as well as various galleries in Manhattan as well as juried art shows in the tri-state area. She has won CONSECUTIVE Mixed Media awards at the Washington Square Outdoor art shows in 2015, 2016 and then in back to back in 2017 for art pieces embedded in aluminum, and continues to expand her showings, competitions, and techniques. Her art is in many private collections.

Max Cartagena was born and raised in Manhattan's Lower East Side, Max Cartagena has written and recorded music, worked in Hollywood independent films both in front of and behind the camera, modeled, and designed websites, which evolved into his unique brand of digitally-generated artwork from his original photographs. His award-winning art has been displayed in galleries, libraries and art festivals in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

Pictorial Photographers of America (PPA) is open to photographers - professional, amateur and beginner - of all levels. Founded by Clarence H. White in 1916, it is one of NYC's oldest photography clubs.

We meet at 7:00 PM on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month at 346 West 20th Street (between 8th& 9th), New York, NY 10011 in St. Peter's Church Rectory in Chelsea. Please ring the bell when you arrive.

One meeting per month is usually a presentation by a photo professional, and one is a members' competition (digital and print categories) critiqued and judged by a professional.

Visitors are very welcome to attend the meetings.
