Newseum in Washington DC

I recently visited the Newseum in Washington DC and found it very worth the visit. They have on the first floor every Pulitzer Prize winner in photojournalism from the 1940’s thru 2017 and on another floor a 20 year old who worked for Stars and Stripes that did some incredible work covering the Tet offensive in 1968. This museum does a great job of displaying the important work of photojournalists. Highly recommend this “Newseum” on Pennsylvania Ave.

Sad to find out DC’s Newseum is in dire financial straits. Hopefully it can find a way to continue operating

I think it must be difficult for museums that charge admission to exist
considering how the Smithsonian museums and the NGA are free.

That is exactly right. It might do better in another city where it wouldn’t be competing with free museums and galleries

Hopefully it will survive. This is a wonderful place to visit and spend the better part of a day. The quality of the exhibits and maintenance of the facility put most of the Smithsonian museums to shame.

I have been to the Newseum and really enjoyed it. I would highly recommend the Pulitzer photojournalism display. I would hate to see it go.

The Newseum is a GREAT place for photographers to visit for reasons already stated, but all of Washington DC is
a photographers paradise. The springtime, especially the last of March/first week in April during cherry blossom
time is prime; but very busy with tourists.
