To be sure, bears were the main interest at Kodiak. That said, there was other wildlife present. The first picture is a fledgling bald eagle. The adults, having perhaps learned to distrust man, kept their distance and always kept a tree between themselves and us. The fledglings, on the other hand, held no such feelings. The second is a group of extremely rude sea lions; one sticking its tongue out at us while another gives us the raspberry. Our first trip to Kodiak, the sea otters were extremely shy, staying far away and hiding amid kelp. They weren't so shy on the second trip - as evidenced by the next third photo. The sea otters are of a subspecies that is only found naturally in Prince William Sound. An attempt is being made to establish colonies farther south along the Pacific coast.
Very good photos. Mahalo for sharing.
