I subscribe to the U.K. N photo and Digital Photography magazine . A great amount of info. I find in American Photo magazines very little info and a great amount advertisements. What say you all?

They both have advertisements that pay to publish it. I agree that the UK magazines have more hefty content.

I agree - I'd estimate a typical article in a UK publication is at least twice as long as in a U.S. publication. U.S. photo mags are kind of shallow.

I usually look for a copy of Digital Photography at the airport. They have great 'how-to' articles - especially their specials editions. However, the annual subscription is a bit steep. One thing I noticed, when you see the prices our UK friends pay for their equipment you realize how spoiled we are here in the US.

The Brits do it right - just as with music also ....! They cost more and do/have more.

Very true. That's why I no longer subscribe. American mags are too frivolous, and "N" is too expensive. The Web is free with more info that all the mags combined. My time is the only limiting factor.

For CANON users you'll not get much better than EOS MAGAZINE. Dedicated to the EOS system but featuring other CANON products it is well written by a truly independent team.
6 issues per year, U.K. subscription runs out at £24.95. Different options offer PRINT, DIGITAL, or BOTH. Take a look at the website.

They also have a retail operation but it's a relatively small affair. They run course (not much use to U.S. and other overseas members) and have a mainly U.K. based forum.

Have you not noticed that everything in this country is leaning to the frivolous and superficial; I call it the dumbing down of America. Look at the TV shows that are cancelled and those that stay; Photo Mags are just another example. Serious pursuits are just not in vogue.

As a matter of interest, UK mags in general seemed to have greatly increased in price, whilst the actual content has gone down; apart from the few professional mags. , where you still get good subject matter, the vast majority seem to dwell on how to alter digital images, instead of concentrating on getting the image right in the first place ! And of course, the old standby, the latest and (best) digital cameras and lenses to take your hard earned cash ! I always used to try and get the past copies of the good US mags, but a lot of them seem to have gone to the magazine graveyard. Even our Amateur photographer Magazine is so thin now, it is hardly recognizable from ten years ago.

Lenswork is the only mag I bother with. It’s great. I tired of the others a couple decades ago.

...I love Outdoor Landscape & Nature Photography...a bit pricey because of having less advertising but it is really challenging me to be a better photographer and I like the reviews of equipment in the back...
