Can anyone tell me how to determine the shutter count for any of the E-series or Pen Olympus cameras? So far nothing has turned up via the web.
As far as I know, you can only get actuation counts on most Nikon DSLR's and some Canons.
Thanks cj for your response

This Youtube video shows how on an E-510.
I have an Andriod Ap on my phone, called "Shutter Count" (creative). I e-mail a pic to myself, save it to my phone & open it through "shutter count".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQIySubeDVYI kind of doubt that is the actual shutter count. The guy in the video says he JUST got his new E-510 and the shutter count shows 1671 actuations????
Olympus is very selective about which bodies record the shutter count in EXIF data, I inquired about my E-420 through their Customer Support and they told me that only the E-620, E-3 and E-5 currently record shutter actuations. The shutter count is unavailable on any of their other DSLR models.
You may be able to refer to the filename of the pictures taken if you set it to ignore (continue indexing) when you change cards.

For the E-500:
Turn camera on and open card door.
Press Play (blue arrow) & OK buttons.
Press up, down, left, right.
Press shutter button all the way down.
Press right arrow button to get to page 2.
00XXXXXX shutter release count.

Sorry, that last line should read:
R: 00XXXXX shutter release count.
(I can't remember what other info is on that same page, not using my E-500 much now).

If you shoot a Nikon ...and if your Nikon supports RAW files (it's best to use RAW although some cameras will record the shutter count in their JPEGs) ...and if you have Photoshop, open your RAW Nikon file in Photoshop, Bridge or Camera RAW, click on File>File Info> when the dialog box appears, scroll over to ADVANCED, and then open the Schema option - middle way down and you will see the Aux:imagenumber.
There is also a website that can do this,
http://www.myshuttercount.comApologies if this has already been provided....not time to read thread.

The information I put in my earlier message is from my own notes, can't remember where I got them.
However, have a look at this website:

Every Olympus camera I have owned... starting with the E-1 has had a shutter count activity using a sequence of buttons starting with opening the memory card door with the camera on. The sequence is not the same for every model, but sequences for each model can be obtained by searching the internet for----finding shutter actuations Olympus E-(model)
I don't know about the PENS, but two things that Olympus has offered since the beginning is the SSW system for dust removal on camera startup and shutter count. Plus many more...
I've been shooting almost exclusively Olympus since the E-1.
Most of the information found on the internet regarding shutter actuations was associated with other camera brands (most noticeable being Nikon and Canon). Thanks to all responding! Especially those with direct experience with Olympus equipment.
