The male was doing the hop and head bop thing while cooing at the female who was hopping away, flying to new perches and generally playing hard to get. After a while they got tired and/or hot (80 today) and settled in the shade on the swing set play fort to pose for a portrait.

A good capture. Detail in the download.
Well taken.
Very nice! At my house they are on the ground below my feeders and picking seed out of the snow.
A nice portrait of a matched pair

Thanks
I heard the cooing again and this morning the feeders are getting a lot of visitors. Finches, Lesser Goldfinches, sparrows of at least two kinds, hummers (and bees), Mourning Doves, Eurasian Collared Doves and I think I spotted one Band Tailed Pigeon. Then two or three doves the size and general shape of a Eurasian Collared but very light gray-almost white and one had markings so pale they could hardly be seen. Could be African Collared Doves. The Los Angeles Metro area is one of three places in the US that feral populations are established. On one of them the collar was so pale it is hard to see, while the others have dark banding on the neck and tail. I got shots of the pale one and one of those with dark markings.

Nice shot of the doves. Good job.
What a good shot, Robert! We used to have a dove couple come and visit us on our window sill where we used to live and we enjoyed them sooo much!
