Newbie ?? regarding camera and lenses.
Curious as to how many if any of you more experienced photographers leave a lens attached to the camera body when you put it away. If so, is there a particular lens you leave attached or just the last one you were using.
Thank you.

I always have a lens on the body, usually my 24-120.
Less chance of dust getting inside from a needless change and my camera is that much closer to being ready to shoot.
The bodies always have a lens on them.
Usually a 24-80 f2.8 (35mm fov) and a 80-300 f2.8 (35mm fov)
There's 99% chance I have a lens on my camera at all times...The only time I don't is when I'm traveling via air and I know I'm not going to be taking photos for a while, then I dismount the lens for proper packing, also so there's more room in my camera backpack for other gear (or more lenses).
Always a lens on the body, usually my walk-around.
My usual walk around lens is my 100-400, and for the most part it's always attached to my camera, unless I'm in need of one of my shorter lenses.
Yes, it fits into my backpack that way, although it's in a bottoms up and 45 degree rotation position to accommodate the tripod mounting ring on the lens.

Always. And if you loan your lens to a trusted friend or relative, you put another lens on it. Or put the original body cap on it.
I never put a camera away with a lens on it. Camera bodies are on one shelf with lenses underneath.
However, I seldom put everything away. At the very least I have a bridge camera, and usually a DSLR with lens attached, sitting on a chest near the back door. They don't necessarily get cleaned every day, but always before going in the cabinet.

All my camera bodies have lenses on them and each is in a camera bag with other lenses and accessories,
ready to go whenever I want to use one.
You said, put away, and to me put away is just that, put away. When one of my DSLR' S is not in
use or isn't going to be used for a while, or is being transported it is put in its foam lined, hard walled case with lens detached and body cap in place. My two general purpose DSLR'S, a D500 and a 5D mk IV, rarely get put away so there's always a lens on them. A EF 28-300L on the Canon and usually a Nikkor 200-500 on the Nikon.

I have never took a lens off my camera, prior of putting it away. I always leave the one I used last on it! I've been doing the same for more then 40 years!

Ditto. It simply goes in the camera bag.
