I always looked at it as a turd when I see it and no way would I have a vehicle named after a turd.
Makes me laugh at the person who bought a turd.
Toyota Racing Division. I always thought that was a funny acronym. Cheers.
A good TRD is priceless 🤣
I just bought a 2018 TRD Sport short bed and asked if I could get one without that logo. The dealer said that they all come that way and I would have to take it to a body shop to have it remove. Fortunately they made the logo smaller this year and it is not as noticable on the dark grey model that I got. I am really pleased with it. It is much like my 3 previous 4Runners but with a short bed.
TRD has been in use for years.
That's the problem with foreign car makers. They don't realize when they abbreviate a word, it could mean something totally different in English. What does TRD stand for anyway? Ya gotta admit though, "Toyota Turd" has a nice ring to it.
I imagine they thought people would pronounce it T R D instead. US companies have the same problem with languages. Remember that the Chevrolet Nova means "does not go" in Spanish.

I have a 2013 Tacoma trd sport I took the decals off with a heat gun on a low setting. Just apply a coat of wax afterwards no need for a body shop that will charge an arm and a leg.
As for the racing division they are huge in Baja 1000 type rally racing. Ivan Stewart was sponsored by them.

I hadn't heard of it till I saw this article. I guess the name is here to stay.
EDIT: I see there's a "TRD Series." If it's a series, like a continuous flow, wouldn't it be diarrhea?

I've heard Dodge is coming out with a new sport model called the Dodge RT Diarrhea.
Kind of fitting for me. Laugh everytime I see it. If I owened a TuRD, I'd definitely get out the heat gun. Just like every truck that says pro is a base model.laugh at them too.
Don't "trd" come b'tween "sec'n" an' "fort'"? Or fer da ol' fans of "Dem Bums", it comes b'tween "sec'n" an' "home"! (Er wuz dat "toid"?)
