One person commented about not being allowed. I check the Advice Pros description and read the replies are prohibited. My point is compartimentalism, exclusivity can have debiliting consequences. If all I can do is read someones spoutings and not be able to question or comment, then why bother with the site. How many of these 'experts' have written books on photography. What makes an expert.

It makes no sense to me that an administrative decision be made to move a post/thread from the main discussion section to Advice From the Pros, where participation has been restricted. Shouldn't that decision be made by the OP?
I can understand administration deciding a topic/thread is more appropriate for Main Discussion and moving it OUT of the restricted-reply area, but why move it IN?

Because we really don’t need the OP soliciting in the main forum. It’s unprofessional. It serves him right. If anyone posts pictures in the main forum, he runs to the Admin to move those types of threads into the photo gallery forum.

OK, I deleted it before, but now I'll say it. Admin has allowed the establishment of an elitist section on this forum. What comes next? A section on which only owners of top tier cameras are allowed to post? What would happen if the Christian Photography Group only allowed comments from Christians, banning Jewish, Islamic, Buddhist, Shinto, agnostic and atheist members. What's the next group you let become elitist, Admin? I think what should happen is that every member of this forum who is rejected from any group should start an e-mail campaign, notifying every major advertiser on this forum of this travesty. If it offends the bottom line, maybe it will attract your attention more quickly than it has offended your sense of right and wrong. The fact that the "Pros" have been arbitrarily chosen compounds the offense. Is Roger Hicks on that list? Is Marty Saccone on that list? Both are members and both have more professional experience than anyone I know on that list. Shame on you.

FWIW, the term sauwastika is used in the sense of "backwards swastika" by Eugène d'Alviella (1894).

You too are taking this way too seriously. There are all kind of forums on this site. Wedding, macro, etc....

This one is just one more. As it stands, it is on the bottom on the page when you click on “all forums”.

Most people who do ask newbie questions don’t know about all the hidden forums anyway, which means that most, if not all new questions will be posted in the main forum just like before.

If wrongy tries to drum up some business by soliciting in the main forum, I will personally make sure that it will be removed from this forum, by reporting it to Admin. It is a win win situation. Hopefully we get less of wrongy and the main forum will be just the same as before.

Seems like a fine line of censorship is being walked.

This is not 'just one more' forum. It has restrictions the others do not.

Where were all this vigorous objections back when Admin was deciding what to do with this proposal??
This is a lousy time for protest - much more disruptive than complaining earlier!

Having further investigated the matter, I may have misunderstood the sequence of events.
I have no objection to the forum in and of itself. In fact, I myself have utilized it.
My objection was to moving a topic from one (open) forum to another (restricted), thereby excluding all unauthorized members from participating.
As for my timing being poor, we sometimes fail to foresee all the fallout of our decisions prior to making them.
EDIT: I am aware that the rules and regulations laid out in 'Advice from the Pros' clearly states that topics deemed inappropriate for that forum will be moved elsewhere. It is the reciprocal that I find unsettling, due to the restrictions of that particular forum.

We? What the hell is this we thing? I know you don't like the man but for God's sake stop trying to stir the pot.
And it is NOT an elitist forum. ANYONE can ask questions there a if appropriate they will be answered without a host of, often wrong, opinions. It is not an exclusive club, it is an attempt to form an area where users can go for help from known experienced and knowledgeable people.
Now go and run to admin and report me because I disagree with your attitude.

Edit: And you can interface with the "pro's" by using PM's. If they agree with your input they will pass it on. If you need clarity about something they wrote, you'll get help. This way erroneous stuff, superfluous noise and side tracking can be kept to a minimum for the benefit of the user who asked for help. I speak from personal experience.

First of all, I’m the one trying to calm things down. I could care less about any of the forums wrongy starts. All of them eventually go dead. This one is no exception. Elitist? Have you ever seen me use that word? It never crossed my mind once. Wrongy just wants to be able to control things. Have you seen his ignore list? What kind of a person would put that many members on his list? You go right ahead and support a narcissistic personality. Like clock work, in the end the only thing that happens is that you get burnt.
I don’t mind if you call me out, but at least accuse me of something I am actually doing or saying. Please?

And before you miss understand things, again, I have no problem with that new forum. I would never participate in it anyway. It doesn’t effect the main forum one bit.

And because of that, I’m with you, I don’t get why some people are so up in arms.

Now be a good old man and go after the guilty ones!!!

If RGG attempts to steer questions to known experienced photographers, why would you have a problem with that?. Other than you don't want him to succeed?

Yes, I am an old man, proud to have made it this far, calling me one doesn't bother me. .
Or change the fact that you have a history of attempting to undermine another member of UHH every chance you get. Apparently it doesn't ever occur to you that what that person is doing could be positive for the community. You would not care as long as you can subvert anything he does. Your self appointed position of being the righter of all wrongs here at UHH and particularly with regards to one member is boringly childish.

What ever you say old man.

The only thing wrongy could do that would be positive for the UHH community is to log out and never come back.

The very idea, that he would control what ever goes in that forum could never ever be fruitful. Even you should be able to see what it is doing to the community.

Those very same chosen “pros” can answer any questions in any forum at any time, which would provide the right answer to the OP.

But you go on, right ahead and defend wrongy. That is your right. And btw, if what I do is boring to you, do yourself and your blood pressure a favor and skip my posts.
