should I update my Sierra OS to High Sierra?

I have found on line many problems with this upgrade. I have learned that if something is working don't tamper with it..

I am tired of looking at the upgrade note on my screen.... I have heard horror stories on upgrades; Sierra is working just fine... no gas in the tank for me.

Exactly how I feel Bob. I use my iMac 27 for editing only.. I don't see how the upgrade OS will make it better.. ?

I upgraded some weeks ago from Apple Sierra to High Sierra operating system for my MacBook Pro smoothly and with no adverse effects. I did not perform the upgrade when High Sierra first came out, preferring to wait while any unexpected bugs were identified and corrected. At this well-advanced point, I would think most folks would be safe to proceed. I believe High Sierra included some malware/spyware fixes that users can truly benefit from. /Ralph

Yea, those upgrade notes are a pain in the ass. There is no "not now" button, and anywhere else you click on it it opens the App Store, which I just then have to quit.

Upgraded my iMac ( circa 2009 ) 2 weeks ago, no problems.... I have always waited a few months to upgrade after every new OS, never immediately after release.... my iMac is still performing flawlessly.

at least with the Mac you click on the notice, it opens the update screen and you can close it and then do it when you decide, with Windows 10 I turned on my computer and it just went ahead and did an update and quite lengthy one at that, needless to say, I didn't get to use it that evening and just used my iMac instead.
And High Sierra is very stable, I have five Macs in the house all are running High Sierra and there are no problems with it. There was a security problem that was identified in November that was corrected with an updated release at the end of November.
My 6 Macs range from being 11 years old to the latest MacBook Pro that was purchased this last November. All working which is more than I can say for my Windows junk pile and used parts computers in the back room of the basement, fortunately, I only need one Windows machine.

I upgraded to High Sierra and wish I hadn’t cashes two of my most used programs weren’t compatible and now doesn’t work and for me to upgrade those programs will cost me $280 I been thinking about downgrading back to just Sierra but haven’t done so as of this writing, I now agree with Canon Lee, if it ain’t broke leave it alone wish I did.

Just curious what programs you found no longer worked? That is the main reason I am hesitant to upgrade.
