I'm traveling to Ireland in a couple weeks and will be on a bus for 10 days touring the country. I usually shoot my pics out the window of a bus on Auto but there probably should be another way to shot them for better shots on a fast moving tour bus. Can someone suggest how you do it or what works best for you?
I took an REI sponsored tour of County Kerry, Ireland, several years ago. The bus was a small Mercedes - I recall there were about ten people in the group and we fit comfortably in the vehicle. I can't remember the need to roll down the windows, but since Ireland roads are much tinier than what most Yanks are used to, we did not move fast, so speed would not have been an issue. A car approaching from the opposite direction was a challenge to navigate even though this bus had a small footprint. Crawl speed was common. Mine was a walking tour, so we didn't spend that much time on the bus though. Just navigating from town to town.
Loved my visit though. Great people and the food was surprizingly good too, not to mention the Guiness, for most, an acquired taste. The worst part: we had an annoying little leader who was hard to understand because of his heavy brogue and who had the manner of a Nazi version of a Leprechaun.
I'd do another REI trip though, absolutely. A great value and trips that are off the beaten track.

On a moving bus, I use manual mode, 1/500 sec, f/8 and auto iso.... depends, though, on how your camera handles higher isos. That way when I see something I want to shoot, I don't have to fiddle with anything.....
Thanks Casser. I would go back again. The scenery is spectacular and the people are great!
It is always enjoyable to make the trip for different country and catch all beautiful memories. If you like, then you can also make a video with your tourist bus and after, afterward using photography tools you can get all photos as your like.
