If you do get a chance to visit BdA here are a few things I've learned
-it is usually recommended to visit between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The place is WAY too crowed for my tastes during that period of time. Go a week or 3 AFTER New Years and in the middle of the week (Tues - Thurs)
-The birds are not under contract. They go wherever they go. Most days their behavior is somewhat predictable but some days .....they ain't where they're supposed to be.
-It gets really cold out there in the morning. The closest town (a crossroads really) is San Antonio and an average January morning is 20º - 30º. Bosque del Apache only about 7 miles away is 5º to 7º colder so dress really warmly and in layers. By 10:00 it is likely to be in the 50s.
-Plan on keeping your camera on a tripod. Because.....it does not take long at all for the camera to assume ambient temperature and if you are holding on to it all the time your hands will become PAINFULLY cold very quickly.
-While touring the "loops" if you should get hungry, drive back to San Antonio and enjoy a green chili cheeseburger at either the Owl Cafe or the Buckhorn Inn......they're wonderful!
I'll have to add the Owl Cafe to the itinerary on my next trip. Great images! Thanks Paul.
Great BIFs Paul. The trio is a great shot.

Blake's Lotaburger has been a frequent stop of mine, so far, for chiliburgers in NM. Probably time I should to branch out.
