Thanks for the link to the Muhammad Ali tribute with Billy Crystal. Made my day. I did live in his time, with its ups and downs. Fistacuffs propelled his career to the top of boxing. Later, beyond the ring, still a champ in his own inimitable way, he conquered the world, by force of personality. On his passing, he entered the Pantheon.

True.
He will always be the pinnacle of the sport for me.
That was an excellent clip. The 15 rounds video that was originally on HBO in 1979 with Billy Crystal doing Ali and Ali doing Howard Cosell is one of the funniest bits I have ever seen.
That was one great tribute, thanks.
A truly moving, wonderful tribute to a great man. Many thanks for posting it.
Watched his rumble in the jungle fight on the only TV in a small village in the Philippines. It was a very raucous evening with lots of San Miguel beer.
I was living in Jackson, Mississippi, the night of Superfight Three. The local cable outlet had just added HBO to its lineup, and the first night of HBO's broadcast was the night of Superfight Three. After the end of the fight, as Joe Frazier, his eyes all but swollen shut, tried to answer the bell for Round Fifteen, but his manager threw in the towel, ending the battle. As the room erupted, an HBO announcer made his way to Ali's corner, to find the champ sitting on his stool, drenched in sweat, obviously exhausted. The announcer thrust a microphone towards Ali, asking, "Champ, how do you feel?" Ali looked up, still breathing hard, and said, simply,"I'm just glad there ain't no more Joe Fraziers."
Incredible, indelible moment.
A great tribute. I can remember Ali when he came over to the UK and after he beat Henry Cooper my father who was a bit useful himself saying he had never seen anyone as fast or skilful at heavyweight. A great champion not just in the ring. We loved him over here.
