G'day,
I am a "Hobby Photographer" who has been following UHH for a couple of years and I have finally decided to register so that I can post questions and contribute to the forum. I have learnt a lot since I began to follow UHH and of course I am still learning. Following the various topics covered in UHH has also made me realise that some of my thoughts, issues and concerns are not unique. I developed an interest in photography, or rather taking photos, in my early childhood starting with a Kodak Brownie Box camera. I later progressed to a Yashica range-finder style camera before purchasing my first SLR in 1974. I have thousands of slides, including many from my father's collection that I am slowly (very slowly), going through and converting a few to keep in digital format. I entered the world of digital photography in 2005 and felt liberated, not only with the ability to instantly view the images that I had just captured, but also with the ability to make simple adjustments to the final image. Some of my early digital photos are pretty terrible but through reading a lot and following various photography forums I feel that I have made a little progress.
I like to photograph landscapes, classic and vintage cars, trucks, machinery, wildlife, trains and railways as well as the occasional family photo. My wife and I are retired and like to take at least one "holiday" each year where we travel interstate or occasionally overseas which always provides lots of travel photography opportunities which I enjoy the most. I do not venture outside much to take photos during this time of year which is mid summer where I live which is in Alice Springs in Central Australia. Currently the daily ambient temperatures here have been around 35 - 40 plus degrees Celcius (95 - 104 F), but I notice that many of members in the northern hemisphere are experiencing temperatures at other end of the scale.
I will have a go at attaching some sample images in a future post.
Regards,
Richard

Thank you Stan, it looks like we have some common interests besides the photography.
