Epson 7900 nozzle plug after cartridge replacement.
The situation: I've been printing with this printer for 2-2.5 years without a problem. Recently ran out of LLK ink. Replaced the cartridge with genuine Epson cartridge, only I did not note that it was 6 month beyond its recommend use date.
Immediately after the banding started. I have done everything I can think of: regular nozzle clean, power clean of the LLK/Y pair. I have even soaked the print head in windex for 16 hours. All without improvement.
My Supposition: There was clumped ink in the cartridge that has partially gummed up the print head.
My Question: Will I destroy the print head if I attach a syringe to the ink source nipple in the printer and place suction on the system, thinking that I might dislodge and aspirate any offending particles out of the system since they don't go forward through the print head.
PDF of the nozzle check pattern attached. You will see a small gap in the lower ½ of the LLK pattern (2nd from the right). Ignore the Magenta artifact this was new and cleared on a subsequent had clean.
