We are on a cruise and yesterday my Fuji Finepix HS50 just quit! The pictures were completely washed out and then it wouldn’t focus and everything was dark. The battery was fully charged. It was working fine until then. It’s about three years old. Fortunately I have a Nikon that is my main camera. My husband uses the Fuji. Any thoughts? Can it be fixed? Thanks for any help.

I think they were released in 2013..... I had a similar experience with a Canon of the same vintage...although it just froze. Sounds to me like it just wore out. High usage?

That's a Bridge camera that is not that old. 2013 as previously mentioned. I can't explain why your photos were wash out from the SD card? Depending on what it will cost for repairs, you may be better off with a replacement. If you decide not to get a repair, you can sell the camera to eBay for a low price for parts. Or you can contact Fuji Support, and at least know if it is worth repairing. Good luck. www.fujifilmusa.com

Have you tried the old reliable, power cycling? Take the battery out for several minutes, the put it back in? Do you have another battery for it? If so, try that. Bummer!

We had an older FUJI bridge camera, my sons - that he liked very much. Sadly it died and was sent to FUJI (U.K.) who advised it was beyond repair. We had suspected sensor damage and this was a few years old and a 3mb model with just a 10x zoom. It had served us well.

FUJI (U.K.) offered us a stonking discount on a new model or a discount on a refurb model (our camera was long out of production). My son bought a new one at the discount from FUJI, we couldn't better the price anywhere.
We had to place the order, return the faulty camera, then they sent us the new one. To be sure, they may have retained the camera and we worked by e-mail, but either way, I was impressed with the service and delivery.

Can't speak for FUJI (U.S.) but if it's anything like the U.K. office you'll not go far wrong - especially if you consider you're competent with the menus etc.

“Stonking”. Is that a UK idiom?

It's always good to have another camera.

Check the battery terminals on the battery itself, could be slight corrosion that might be preventing a good battery connection. Have the battery voltage checked to see if it might be dead. Go to Fuji's support website and see if others might have experienced the same issue with their camera. See if possibly there might be a firmware update you have not installed. Contact Fuji to is it they can check the issue

Yes. I was wondering about the sad card. Could actually be descriptive...as in “no photos/sad card”. Maybe you e started something...
