I have won the battle......

But I hope the war. Time will tell.
First is a photo I posted previously lamenting on the difficulty of dealing with these critters.
The second (Not a good shot, had to shoot through glass) is my solution attempt. I used an inverted planter box, cut a square hole in the bottom and attached with L brackets.
They have spent the last 4 days trying to figure out a way to beat me, but so far...so good. I'll keep you posted.
My birds are happy

Some years ago I did the same thing with a plastic pot.
Worked for a while, then the critters started to chew away at the plastic and eventually ate their way to the feeder.

I thought of that and plan to wrap some hardware cloth inside the “bell” to prevent them from getting too far inside. At least this will keep me active in my old age

Clever solution. It’s the same principal as the rat guards you see on a ship’s mooring lines. Not sure the war is over. Squirrels are very clever and sly critters. Good luck with your battle.

Looks good and glad you have won the battle. Here in Hawaii we use a sheet of aluminum about a foot wide and wrap it around the tree before nailing it. This keeps the critters from climbing above it. Good luck.

I love watching squirrels, but I know they can be quite the nuisance, especially when it comes to bird feeders. Good luck, but can you put out a little treat for the furry critters too?

I like them too and put out scraps that they eat.
