Any thoughts on the Tamron 35 MM 1.8 VC. Using on Nikon D850. Just asking about any ones experience with this lens good bad or indifferent.
Thanks.
I have the Tamron 45mm f/1.8 SP VC lens. Those new Tamron SP prime lenses all have vibration compensation, a metal lens barrel, and are fully weather sealed. I've used mine a lot for outdoor model photo shoots and street photography. The vibration compensation really helps since it's not practical to use a tripod all the time. It's not sharp wide open at f/1.8. I stop down to a least f/2.8 or f/3.2 to get into the range where it's really sharp. I took this photo with the Tamron on a Nikon D7000.

DXOMark test results on a Nikon D800E look very promising and the overall rating of 42 is relatively high for a moderately priced lens. As to sharpness wide open, most lenses don't achieve maximum sharpness until they are stopped down a couple of stops. CO's statement that its not sharp at f/1.8 may mean its not sharp enough for his purposes, but it may be sharp enough for yours'. I don't have this lens, but I find with other f/1.8 lenses that stopping down to 2.0 or 2.2 usually sharpens up things noticeably without giving up too much light. Perhaps CO can post a couple of images shot wide open.

I have some photos I took at f/2.2 at the same model photo shoot as the photo above. They're a little risqué. The female model is almost completely undressed. They're nice images but I'm not sure I should post them here. I'm not sure if I can send photos through private message.

At f/2.2 would you say they are reasonably sharp?

Here is one of the photos shot at f/2.2. I think it's reasonably sharp. I didn't know if I could post a risque photo here so I added some green bars. I would rather have posted it without the added bars. I have model releases from the models.

Not tack sharp perhaps, but agree its reasonably sharp at f/2.2

Are you aware of the Nude Photography, Boudoir Photography, NSFW, Discussions and Pictures forum?

The green bars distract from the beauty of the Model.
