For all of you that remember about the house fire we had back in 2013 and I lost all my camera stuff and computers and 20 years of 35mm negatives well I guess I didn't loose all of it. Cameras and computers are gone but we were able to salvage some of our belongings out of the burnt house, clothes, some tools and some miscellaneous stuff in duffel bags. I had thought that I had gone through the duffel bags pretty much sure what was in them, well I was wrong.
Looking for something in the basement the other day I found one of the bags and started looking through it- why I don't know, but in the bottom was an external hard drive that I had completely forgot about. Plug it into the computer and "YYYYYYYEEESSSSS" about 10 gigs of NEF files appear that I don't think any have been touched.
The best part is the hard drive had images of my last 2 summers (did 11) working at a fly-in fishing camp in Canada's NWT, place called Obre Lake 2011/12 (when I went digital D200-D2x) , best 11 summers I've ever had.
This is a picture of a sunrise looking from the shore at the lodge WNW taken at 4:16 am, July 22,2011. A very common site, but you could never get enough. Nothing but water and lots of big fish!

Great news (and an excellent reminder about keeping a DR copy of your data at a seperate location in the event of a disaster).
Woohoo! What a treasure you've recovered.
