Since I haven't see it posted, this coming Wednesday we will see a Super Moon. Best viewing is the Western Time Zone and Hawaii and Alaska. East coast will get a partial. It has been a 150 years since the last occurrence but another will come early in 2019. Hope you will get some great shots.

It's a total eclipse of a Super Blue Blood Moon. Last one was 150 years ago. Here is NASA's site: https://www.nasa.gov/feature/super-blue-blood-moon-coming-jan-31. West Coasters will be in the path of the total eclipse. We Midwesterners and East Coasters will see a partial eclipse.

What results do you expect from the rde filter?

Let's see, blood moon, I wonder what color that moon SHOULD be, hmmmmmm. Why take a boring photo of a white moon when I can enhance the BLOOD moon with a filter.

I don't believe you've grasped the concept; during an eclipse the moon IS red.

Hey. Shoot it with and without the filter. Nothing ventured nothing gained. I used a red filter in Holland to photograph a windmill on Kodachrome. I silhouetted the windmill against the sky with the sun right in the photo. Came out great. Red sky, yellow sun, black windmill. I'll see if I can find it. I've copied it on my computer but I'm not all that organized.

Blood moon IS NOT AN ECLIPSE EVENT.

What does it matter what we call it. There will be a large moon (super moon?), the second full moon of the month (a blue moon?), and a total eclipse of the moon, which turns red (a blood moon?). Just go out and get the shots.

I good tool to know where the moon is going to be located on the sky at the time of the eclipse is an app called “PhotoPills”.
I hope that where I live there is clear skyes that morning
