plugins for lightroom 4

I am just getting started using LR 4. I noticed a plugin I use in PSE10 could be set up and used in LR 4 so I set it up for use. It is Topaz Labs adjust 5. I see the other Topaz plugins can also be used in LR but they can get expensive!

My question is, Are there other plugins that will work in LR4, preferably free ones? If so, which ones would you recommend or do you use?

There are a number of free plug-ins available for Lightroom, if you google lightroom plug-ins you will find plenty. My experience has been to read the description of the plug-in and determine if it is something I will REALLY use or not before I download it. I don't intend to be mean or tacky when I say that, it's just that what may be a very usefull program for someone else may be useless to you.

Another thing to keep in mind, and again I hope this isn't taken the wrong way, but if you are a relatively new Lightroom user, you may want to get familiar with the software itself before you start adding plug-ins (again, just speaking from experience). I have used Lightroom 2 a little bit, but have seen features on it that either require multiple steps or a plug-in in Photoshop, so until you get familiar with the software you may very well find yourself adding plug-ins that are more hassle than help.

I understand what you are saying completely. The reason I have asked this is because of my experence with them in PSE. I have read descriptions of plugins and they sound great. downloaded them and found they were junk, they just would not work! I figured if members were willing to share their experences and make suggestions we might get a list of ones that would work well in LR. I might find most of them usless for me but you or someone else might have a need for one.

I have installed one from Topaz because I have used it and really liked it in PSE10. I have found it also works well in LR4. First though, you must download Focus Express 2 and follow the instructions. It is a free program and will allow you to use Topaz plugins in LR4. It is one I would recommend to others that might be interested in trying it. They can download it knowing it will work in LR4.

Not to be picky, but it's Topaz Fusion Express 2 rather than Focus Express. That may help prevent a little confusion.

Jeffrey Fridel's Lightroom plugins are great for publishing & exporting photos to either your hard drive, or several different web photo sites. I use it for my Zenfolio & Facebook pages. The price for each plug in is what ever you want to pay, donations accepted.

This is his home page, look down the right side and you will find links to his Lightroom goodies.
