It is never my intention to shock or offend. I have a life long interest in birds of prey and capturing a moment like this is what keeps me going out there. I posted a less explicit set of this bird last week but held off on these, so viewer beware. This is how raptors make their living and I felt very fortunate to be there. These were taken at the Calif. State Refuge Gray Lodge in the northern Sacramento valley.
I had to get over the unease when I started photographing birds, especially hawks. The worst for me was watching a hawk catch and slowly kill a Virginia Rail, a bird I rarely get to see. Your photo is what it is, a fact of every day life. You caught it very well.
