Hello everybody,I never post anything but every morning I read my daily email of the forum,I’ve learn a lot with the amazing photographers in here,so my question is,I recently bought a nikon D7200 I had a D90 and despite a lot of coments and discussions that I stumbled while searching for info on diferents websites and forums ,so many people were saying that the D7200 was not a significant upgrade to a D90,I must say that I notice the difference right away with the first shot and I kept the same lens that I had on the D90 18-200 f3.5/5.6 vr. So my question to you people who are wiser and experienced than me 💯 times is : what are you honest opinions about the D7200, and another question, next weekend I’ll be doing a weeding for a fiend of mine,it’s free that was my gift, and the ceremony it’s going to be almost at night, around 7 pm,so the thing is,I hate flash and I know that I have to use high iso values but how much can I push the iso without loose quality on a D7200,I’ve never tried before and I’m nervous 😬 I don’t want to screw things up greetings to everyone and please ,English is my second language so excuse me for any fault👍🏻

Try and see for yourself. Why wait until then?

Simply put, an extraordinary camera. However, at high ISOs expect some noise. How much is dependent on too many variables to list. But with the lens you mention, in a darkened environment, noise will be visible. In a well lit milieu it might be a totally different story.

I agree , try it before hand . I have a D7100 also with a Nikor 18-200. Dont wait till the wedding , try it first , you may also try to incorporate exposer comp to try and help. Good luck

Hello. I've had a d7200 about 3yrs now and love it , up from a s5100 I also use the same lens. I have no problems using high iso. There us some noise but al least I get the shot. In fact in some instances like dawn I've had to under expose an f stop or two to get the lighting my eye was seeing.

There's nothing wrong with using flash if you know how to use it. Even on camera flash is fine if you use exposure compensation to dial it down 1 or 2 stops. If you have a flash like the Yongnuo YN685, or a flash head that can be rotated to the side or even to the rear to bounce the light off a wall. The key is learning how to make the flash look like ambient light. I use flash almost all the time, even outdoors.

One of my biggest mistakes at a wedding was turning the camera vertically for better composition, but since I was using the on-camera flash, there was a big shadow on the wall. Not a very pleasing picture. Keeping your camera horizontal will keep the flash directly over the lens and provide a pleasing picture.

Good luck. I think you will do fine.

I too, use a D7200 and love it. I have no problem with high iso. Came up from a D7100 and before that a D90. The 7200 is far superior to both. Good luck with yours.

Interesting. The D90, when released in 2008, with 12.3 megapixels, was a phenomenal camera. Came out about the same time as Nikon's full frame D700. Another blockbuster. As suggested, try each one out, and keep comparing. You already know that the D7200 has nearly twice the megapixels as the D90.

I used to have a D90 and now have the D7200....the difference between the two camera bodies is huge in my opinion. You will get much better low light photos...do go out and practice! You made a good choice with the 7200! Good luck with the wedding.

One of the first things I do when I get a new camera is go out and do test shots at various ISO settings so I can see for myself how much noise I get at each setting. Then when it comes time to shoot in low light, I know exactly what I will get and can make an informed decision on how high to go. Much better than asking others how high they are willing to push it.

You might very well "hate flash" but it's not about you is it? It's about capturing once in a life time (one hopes, at least) images. In poor light with the 18-200, you might want to consider putting your preferences aside in order to get the best images. I'm off my soap box. Do what you feel you must.

You need to know how you are using the photos. If they are just being shared on social media a little noise won't ruin the moment. If you are expecting to do large prints or photo books I suggest using flash.

Do not push the ISO so high, that your images become useless, it is a way too important event to even play with such a thought. Just get over it and use flash (you and the couple will thank you for it)!
