Nice capture. But we don't want him to get too angry he might just blow his stack.

Very nice. When I have the chance to visit, it usually isn't all that nice of clear. I love the textures in your photo.

Thank you. As a retiree, I don't have to wait for a partly cloudy sky on traditional weekend (I enjoy 7-day weekends ) or hope the conditions are right for a scheduled vacation. Even so, I have taken enough pictures of Mt. St. Helens that were uninteresting.

Wow this is an excellent shot of Mt. St. Rupture.

looks like it was taken only a year or two after the big blow.

Actually, it was taken only about 5 years ago. The big blow was in 1980. This is somewhat like The Valley of 10,000 Smokes. The blow that created it was over a century ago. The layer of ash and stone in it is over 200 meters deep and nothing grows there. This view of St. Helens is from the observation center which is, IIRC, about 5 miles from the crater.

it was my understanding that things had re-grown and returned to somewhat normal, if new-ish.

Thanks. It was actually taken on May 5, 2014. The road to the rebuilt Volcano Observatory had just been opened for the summer. The POV is from the observatory parking lot, where it was windy and cold.
