Hello you all,
Currently I have the above Nikon D5500, Nikon 18-200mm VR and a Nikon 50mm 1.8
I shoot mostly landscapes and finding out that 18mm in a crop camera is not wide enough.
I have looked at the Tamron 10-24mm 3.5-4.5 and the new Nikon 10-20mm.
Your opinions will bea appreciated.

My current favorite the Tokina 12-28mm f4 especially for the wide range - http://www.kenrockwell.com/tokina/12-28mm.htm

I just wish they made it in Sony A mount !

I have a Tokina 11-16 f2.8. Work great and reasonably priced, picked
mine up in mint condition for $280

Try the new Nikon 10-20 AF-P. It will work with the D5500 and is relatively inexpensive ($300).

Don't forget to update firmware.

I had to do that on my D5300. It wasn’t necessary on the refurb D5600 I recently purchased. Not sure about the D5500. Best to check for latest anyway.

I believe the AF-P lenses will work with these cameras without the firmware upgrade. The firmware upgrade just gives you a menu switch to turn off VR. The AF-P lenses do not have an external VR switch. But since Nikon’s latest VR does not need to be turned off when using a tripod I don’t have a reason to ever turn it off.

I have a Sigma 10-20 F3.5 (that's right, not a variable F stop minimum) for my D7000. Used it exclusively in the Utah canyons and perfectly happy with it. Just be aware that you need to keep it pointed fairly level or you'll get some barreling in or out. I have some in my shots but it's not a big deal since I'm not a perfectionist. The price and quality make it a good value for me.

A very sharp and modestly priced 12mm wide angle is available under the Rokinon label. It is manual focus, but the hyperfocal distance allows everything from 3 feet to infinity to be in sharp focus. Here is an indoor shot with a crop sensor. On the 750, the shot would be much wider. This is a JPG straight from the camera.

The only wide angle lens to have for a crop sensor camera is the Sigma 18-35 ART. You will be impressed.

I have found image quality excellent as well. 18mm doesn't seem to be enough on the DX camera's.
11 makes a huge difference when you just can't get any farther away from your subject.
The f2.8 really helps for astrophotography as well.

Paternalism at its absolute worst. Not to mention lack of comprehension. What part of 18mm is not enough (according to the OP) did you not understand?

Here’s another shot with Tokina 11-16 lens mounted on D7200. Photos don’t lie. In my humble opinion one of the best wide angle zooms you can buy and nothing comes close in that price range. Good luck.
