This afternoon after more than a week over 100 and no rain since early May, everything tinder dry, I smelled SMOKE.

Thanks Photoguy. I figured you'd show up. Not my niche but it is yours. For me it was spur of the moment.

Question: in the back of Truck 83 are three compartments of hoses. Each hose is color coded. What do they represent?

Different sizes of hose as well as different lengths. The center hose (yellow) is know as ldh (Large Diameter Hose) and is used to hook an engine or more than 1 to the fire hydrant or 1 engine to a hydrant and another engine to that engine too to help fight large fires when they need more pressure due to many hoses being used. The hose on the right would be for pulling hoses to go further into buildings to fight the fires. The hose on the left is also a smaller hydrant hose. The hydrant hoses are mostly like a rubber type while the hoses to go inside are more of a cloth like material.

Neither rain, nor sleet, nor... stops WalMart from its appointed rounds! Hope your neighborhood was okay. It's been such a hellish summer in many parts of the country, it's amazing we still have areas that are green and not burning. Stay safe!

You have that right. If it was on the other side of the highway, me and my neighbors would be in shelters now.
