Red-tailed or Red-shouldered Hawk?????

I could use some help again. I'm fairly certain this is a Red-shouldered hawk but there are some red feathers in the tail. I know the barb wire in the 2nd photo should be taken out but I'm just trying to ID the hawk right now. He surprised me when he flew so it's not a great shot but hopefully clear enough for ID.

It's a red shouldered hawk, the red tailed hawk has a red tail completely, no white lines on end of tail. Good catch.

This is a tough call. When I look at the book "North American Raptors" I tend to go for Red-tailed Hawk. There is much variation in the bird with respect to colors but a lot of the photo's seem to favor Red-tail particularly in head shape and color. I'm not 100% convinced on this. Some other more experienced people may be able to clear this up.

Juvenile Red-tailed Hawk Look at the eye it is not yellow. Adult Eyes are yellow. Check it out in Stokes Field Guide to the Birds

Far be it for me to gossip about the terminology of hawk vs buzzard but...

I have just taken this picture of the tail of the Red Tailed Buzzard or what you folks call a hawk and as far as I am aware they never have the bars BUT I do stand to be corrected
