I know I’m kicking in open doors here, in this forum. But today I decided to fight back when I got home... Why? Because I’m fed up with the ignorant arrogant full frame stupidity.

Today, once again , I heard that I take good pictures because I have a good camera. So I posted this on Facebook, in English as well as in Spanish.

It is my polite FU! to this arrogant comment.

A good photographer take good pictures with a mediocre or bad camera. A mediocre or bad photographer take bad photos with a good camera. Period.

Respect the interest, the knowledge, the creativity, and the passion.

I wasn't going to say anything, but your extreme ire at this stopped me and forced me to comment. You can certainly take offense at someone making a comment like this and assume it is a backhanded compliment, but I prefer to take comments like this as a simple compliment from someone that does not realize how this could be taken in a different light. Guess the person could have said that it was a shame I could not take a good photo with such a great camera. I don't disagree with your sentiment, I disagree with the degree of angst it seems to have caused you. Lighten up and live longer.

Well, I have to go cook dinner on our beautiful vintage gas range -1950's era O'Keefe and Merritt - my wife will decide how she likes what I cook for her, and she loves the stove also, but she doesn't compliment the stove for dinner. Usually she just says "Yum!" She also likes her cameras, especially her Nikon FM2n, but somehow she doesn't thank them for good photos!

My wife is not at all ungrateful, , but she assumes that stoves, cameras, cars, and other inanimate objects usually need a little assistance to deliver good results. She also likes and respects good tools and materials.
