I have family from Beacon and spent 4 days shooting the area two years ago. The Hudson is huge down there, have you ever seen where it begins?

Begin up in Adirondack Mountains several times, Lake Placid, Old Forge, Thousand Islands, but not to the source of Hudson.

It starts out as a stream from Henderson Lake. No more than 45ft wide and about 12-18in deep.

And here I thought for 50 years that Lake Tear of the Clouds and the Opalescent River were the main source . . .

The picture has intrinsic drama but having about equal amounts of foreground and background mutes the shot's impact. I would move the shoreline up or down to emphasize the ice or sky.

When I took the photos I was thinking about the ice and the mountain background. The sky was secondary.

Very nice Larry. I like them both, but the second one is definitely better with the less amount of sky.
