the old Aol with the blue icon, has phased out and is now obsolete... AOL GOLD is its replacement... I now have Aol Gold... but when I try and email photos to a client... the photo immediately latches on to the Old Aol, which is now obsolete, and WILL NOT send the photos out. When I try and send... a message from AOL says 'this program has been discontinued, and does not send emails anymore'... Does anyone know about this or have the same problem? I tried making AOL 'administrator'... but it didn't help. Perhaps Lightroom Classic has a command I don't know about. Any ideas would be appreciated. I WILL be needing to be able to send out photos NLT this Thursday!!! HELP!!!!
and thanks. nancy
Lightroom simply "asks" your computer the default email program and then prepares an email using that default and the exported image as an attachment. For a quick workaround, just export the image (hard disk) and start a new email from your active email, then attach the exported file from disk, and then send.
To resolve the default email issue, you may need to uninstall the software behind the "blue" icon. You definitely need to investigate (or get expert help) on how to update your computer to specify the default email as the new AOL account.
Good input Thanks. I thought the old one was gone already... but if I go find it and uninstall it, I'm afraid I might lose some of the AOL Gold... and I was under the impression from various people that the old one needed to NOT be deleted in order for the GOLD to run correctly... not sure though..

I agree. Without the software or access to your computer to assess the specifics, I'm hesitate to suggest trying anything destructive. Sending the image to disk and starting an email from within the email program will work until you can look into all the issues related to removing the old account / software.
AOL Gold? Did it come on a 3½" floppy disk?
not funny.... I have reasons for keeping AOL... and I truly need good input and help with my problem.
I miss AOL. I would save the CDs they would mail me all the time. In the early spring I would tie them to my cherry trees with string. The reflections kept the birds away.

I can't imagine why anyone would still use (and PAY!!!) for AOL.
I stay with AOL because I am old, VERY old, and I have a husband who is very ill, and I care for him willingly... I don't have time to learn NEW, and I'm simply trying to make a living to put food on the table. AOL has been fine for me, through all these years... and the $5 a month, is more possible, than the insults I have been receiving because I use AOL. So sad to see this. Everything was fine till the GOLD came on the scene, and I am trying to do what I can to keep on. God will see me through this... with or without your comments. I love Hedgehog, and I know there are many wonderful people on here with the wisdom and insight that I currently need. I am sorry for the few who feel they have to make fun.

I'm sorry if I or someone else offended you but there are better alternatives out there like Gmail. When I ask my 78 year old brother why he still uses AOL (and pays for it) his response is always that he does not want to change his email address. I know that is a pain to do but in most cases your total email recipient catalog is probably smaller than you think. There are many tutorials on how to change/migrate email and here's just one

l've had the same problem. I solved this problem by saving the pictures I wanted to email on aol gold to my desktop and then attached to email from desktop.

Then see if there is a roll back option. The only other solution is to export out of Lightroom to hard disk using the For Email (Hard Disk) presets in the Export Dialogue box. Check the Put in Subfolder option and choose a directory.
Then go into AOL, open the email front end. I am sure in a new message, there is an option to attach a file(s) and then send.
Thank you EVERYONE who gave input. I actually figured it out.... Even though I had made AOL GOLD the Administrator.... it wasn't enough... BUT, once I went to windows 10 and made the Gold, the DEFAULT email.... Lightroom recognized the Gold... Praise God. Thank you especially to the 3 people that gave me good input.... It helped me to think it through and come up with the right solution. I appreciate you.

I had supervisor once who had a mobile made from them hanging in his office.
