I don't want to embarrass the person who posted so I will obscure and generalize the question I saw this morning:
Question: "Should I shoot in high quality Jpeg or is lower quality adequate for my purposes?"
Answer: "My camera does not offer that option."
I see these sort of non-answers with some regularity.
What are these people thinking? (Largely a rhetorical question, but perhaps some members of the group will think twice before posting worthless information).

I understand your point, but perhaps some enjoy the social interaction of a little conversation.
It's not as bad as asking if I should use my 80-200 or 18-270 and the reply is to use a 70-300.
I agree with the thrust of your point. Not only do they offer non-answers, but posts will be hijacked along the way so that I will stop reading the posts that either interest me or I may have something to contribute to. I've been on the Hog for a number of years and always appreciated it; it is the only forum I read each day, but I am tempted to read it less and less because the level of snarkiness and incivility is steadily increasing.

And I don't own any of those fine lenses.

Hey, good morning! Neither do I.
Social interaction morning!
lesdmd maybe you should just get rid of the hog then you wont have to worry about what people ask, as for embarrassing someone they are asking for help from nice people on this sight , not get slack from cranky people like you . there are a lot of snarky and mean people on here but the majority are great!
I can't comment on this subject.

Well then, maybe you can answer this.
Do you walk to work or take your lunch?

One of my growing pet peeves is those who will, in this situation, recommend an X brand mirrorless or bridge camera instead.

Therein lies the beauty to participate or not. Doesn't get any better than that!

Depends on the shutter speed.
Dear Custodian ... forgive me ... but your reply was the cranky one. Just sayin.
