Just got a post from Hasselblad on the new H6D 400c, only 48K msrp. What is this thing for, bill boards? Where do you think this will stop, actually at 48k its about the price of the H6D 200c when it came out.

Actually yes, with a 400 MegaPixel image size you could easily enlarge up to billboard size, or crop in on a model's eyeball without pixelation from across the room.

I'll let you know what I think of them when mine is delivered; that will be right after my check clears - or I get out of jail, whichever comes last.

I dont like mine, it takes too long to load images and takes for ever to load them into photoshop. ( he said with a grin and a wink)

If there is a market, they will build it. If the 200c was not successful they would not have brought out the 400c. Nikon and Canon do the same. When the Nikon D4s came out it was $6,496.95, guess what, when the D5 came out, it lists at $6,496.95. Did you think they would be less expensive when companies bring out new products?

48k? I don't know what is for, but some people drive Ferraris to go shopping at Walmart.

But it is really a 100MP camera with pixel shift to make it 400MP.

There are other high end mega-megapixel backs, etc. commercial grade imagining devices. Hasselblad provides among the highest quality studio equipment available.
Product photography, scientific (remember the moon shots?), and fashion photography and then there are th landscape folks.
I started out on an old used 500c and two lenses which cost me too much even back then in the 60’s. But I got a great start.

It does not stop, and why should it, the first 400+ MP camera (420) was released a long, long time ago, so its definitely not a new thing, but it will go on!

Why are you worried about it? They have their uses, primarily in archeological documentation and art conservatorship arenas.

I bet you in a year you could pick one up for under 30-35K

Where do we think this will stop? The sky's the limit, cameras keep evolving year after year. If Hasselblad didn't think there is a market for this camera, they certainly wouldn't make it.
