Several posters have been asking about taking basketball pictures. I am certainly not the world-renowned expert but I have some experience. Photography in extremes like abysmal lighting in high school gyms is an art of compromise. Shutter speed is probably the most important variable and it comes at the expense of high iso. The player in blue is my son. white balance was a bit tough. This gym was more modern. A sodium vapor setting didn't really work and cool white fluorescent didn't quite work either. post processing made it better.
Metal halide vapor lighting is never fully correctable. The gas does not glow with a continuous spectrum from IR to UV.
