This is the first post to this forum. I have been a student of photography since the early 80's. A couple of things came together to get interested. The first thing was my son playing sports and I wanted to take some interesting photo's of him. The second was I was a printer for 32 years at RR Donnelley in Glasgow,KY. It just so happened that we were printing POP PHOTO and other photography related magazines at this time and I read those magazines from cover to cover. I bought a Canon Ftb as my first camera which I mainly used on vacations as I learned what the various settings were. Then I bought a Canon A1 with a motor drive. This set up would eat up a roll of Tri-X in approx. 10 sec., if needed. So I started buying film in bulk and loading my own casettes. Of course my next step was to build myself a darkroom. I was half way home due to having a fall out shelter the previous owner of my home built when the home was built in the early 60's. This worked out great I could do my sports pic's and various others. After my son went away to college things kind of slowed down in the sports pics, so I gradually stopped using the darkroom and my wife took it over for other things. I am now taking digital pic's of my grandchildren's sports activities and orchestra pic's. My pic's are now being used for scrapbooking, etc. My wife makes a book from Shutterfly of every trip we've take to Europe, and trust me we have taken a lot, so several of my pic's go to that. I put all of the pictures relating to family, kids, trips on a 1TB portable hard drive. So I tell all my family where all the pictures are and this hard drive is the legacy to them.

Welcome tale. Might be a good idea to transfer all that personal info onto another hard drive (or two) as they can pack up in an instant!
