Typically, I'm situated right on the glass, down at one end or the other, near a corner. I'm fortunate that there is a photography hole in the glass that I can shoot through, but in some arenas, there isn't and I just shoot through the glass. If I'm shooting through the glass, I try to limit shooting at an angle, if I can. Angles through the glass tend to distort, as well as bring more haze.

and I have a remote camera that I have on a platform above the ice.

I shoot with a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 (but I shoot at f/4 for depth of field).
I also use a Sigma 17-300mm, typically mostly for the wide angle focal length.
My camera in the rafters is an old camera with a Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 (set at f/4).

Most of the time, I'm not shooting through glass. But sometimes I have to in order to get the shot I want.

Great shots! Are you the team photographer for the Oilers? Used to live in Allen and my son played hockey with the Allen Americans Youth Hockey club.

I get called on by the Oilers to shoot sometimes. But I shoot for Pro Hockey News. I do all the home games, and some road games. I've been to Allen for games many times.
