Requiem for an LF-1

My 'always with me' Panasonic LF-1 must have fallen out of my pocket while I was clearing the snow off my driveway. I didn't notice it until I ran over it with the snow blower. This was all I could find of it.
The LF-1 was a great little camera. It was 'shirt pocketable' with a 28 - 200mm zoom and a F2.0 max aperture. It also had an EVF, shot RAW and could be used full manual (with difficulty). The LF-1 was basically a co-branded version of the Leica C (Type 112). It was my faithful companion on several trips to Europe and was my regular tool for construction site visit reports.

Unfortunately, my 3 year extended warranty expired in November !!

May it Rest in Piece(s)

I'm sorry for your loss.

I remember how sad I was when the shutter of my Instamatic 100 failed during my last month of college {nearly 50 years ago}

I agree. My LF-1 is always in my pocket when I'm out hiking.

Better to find that LF 1 body as the snow melted.. in the 60s in Detroit when the snow melted the med school would gather bodies and have then ready for dissection.

Could you elaborate on this - just a bit?

Sorry for your loss. If it is something you would like to have again, check Keh Camera along with used at B&H and Adorama.

Thanks. Unfortunately, I emptied my GAS tank on a new Sony 24-105 F4 G OSS lens a couple of days before this happened. Replacing the LF1 is going to have to wait a couple of months.

Love that camera; mine is always with me as well. And, I got a white one for my wife to use. That way, I can keep it set up for her and answer questions. Truly pocketable, RAW, EVF, Wi-Fi, and I love controlling zoom with the big control ring. Just a bit peculiar accessing all the exposure settings. But it was the only camera I know of that checked all the boxes for me.

Its a great little camera for all the reasons you gave. Its my general travelling companion too and very handy with an extra grip attached.. The close function of the camera is remarkable. So really bad luck you have lost yours.
There are a few around but not too many as it wasn't really a best seller. I have a white model - the only choice when I wanted to buy. But Panasonic then offered a refurbished 'black' and I jumped at the chance of having a seccond as a back-up. Not had to use it yet!
Hope you can find a replacement.
