Using a lens without an aperture ring on a different mfrs body with an adapter.

I have a Sigma 150-600mm lens (Canon mount) that I bought to use on a Sony a6000 with a Sigma adapter (MC-11) that allows the lens and camera to "talk", including electronic aperture adjustment. I recently sold the Sony and bought a Fuji X-T2. Sigma doesn't make an adapter for for Fuji, so I set the lens aperture to its maximum and bought an adapter with a variable ND filter in it to allow for a reduction of light entering the X-T2. I'm concerned that the lens aperture might inadvertently change at some point and limit its usability. Does anyone have any experience with this type of work around? Is it realistic to think I can make this work or should I sell the lens and buy Fuji's longest zoom?

How about the FotodioX Canon EF Pro Lens Adapter with Built-In Iris Control?

I looked at that, but it too is dependent on the lens staying wide open.

Maybe you should just buy a Canon T7i, T6i or T5i to use with that lens? Seems like a much simpler and more complete solution. In the past, it wasn't uncommon for folks using a super-telephoto to buy a specific camera body to use with it, when a particular lens they needed to use wasn't available for their usual camera system.

There are cheaper, more entry-level models such as T5, T6, SL1/100D, SL2/200D.... but they all use a pretty basic autofocus system: 9-point with one higher performance "cross type" AF point at the center. The T5[u]i[/i]'s is also 9-point, but all nine are cross type. T6[u]i[/i]'s autofocus is further improved to a 19-point, all cross type array. And the T7[u]i[/i]'s autofocus is even further improved to a 45-point, all cross type, plus up to 27 of those points are "f/8 capable", meaning it can be used with more lens/teleconverter combinations. (All the other models mentioned are "f/5.6 limited", unable to autofocus a lens/TC combo that makes for less than an f/5.6 effective aperture.)

The T7i, T6i and SL2 all use the latest 24MP sensor (same as 80D). The other models use a one generation older 18MP sensor.

Buy used or refurbished for some savings. Canon USA sells refurbs directly from their website, with the same warranty as new. You might have to wait a while for a particular model to come available there. https://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/en/catalog/cameras/refurbished-eos-digital-slr-cameras#facet:-810765808345673240494654120329911411111241&productBeginIndex:0&orderBy:11&pageView:grid&pageSize:&

So I take it you didn't check compatibility of the Sigma Lenses and the Fuji X-T2? Time to sell one or the other, most likely the lens

Thanks for the cold glass of water in the face. I've used two camera bodies in the past for similar purposes, but it didn't dawn on me until your post. Previously I was shooting with full frame bodies and wanted the APS-C for the crop factor with a long lens as well as not having to change lenses out in the open while shooting.

I did some looking at new, refurb and used since your post and I think a new T7i would be best. I like the 49 point AF considering my usual subjects at 600mm will be moving wildlife. Canon has no T7i refurbs right now and there are none used on eBay. Any other suggestions for sources for a used T7i would be welcome.

Thanks again.
