Kudos to Nikon Service

I recently suffered a GAS attack and bought a lightly used D750 (8800 actuation's), a 24-120 f4 lens, 50mm 1.4 and 40mm 2.8 macro and 2 SD cards for $1600 on ebay from a pro photog. I thought it was a great, steal of a deal. Turns out the camera needed a shutter recall.

And herein lies the kudos. I dropped the package off at UPS on Dec. 26th. Just got back the camera after only 16 days. Mind you, that covered two weekends and New Year's Day, plus a historical snowstorm in the Northeast. My cost? $0.00. nada, zip, even on a second hand purchase of a non registered USA camera. The returned camera looks brand new, shutter is brand new and I'm quite happy. So, way to go Nikon service!

P.S. Meanwhile, I sold my backup D7200 plus an old 18-70 lens to a fellow hogger for $700. Net transaction equals $900 for a fine FX camera, and 3 lenses. Who says GAS doesn't pay?

$1600 minus $700 = $900. GAS doesn't pay.

I sent two cameras to Nikon for the shutter recall, and each took about the same length of time. It looks like you got a good deal.

I too sent my D750 in for the shutter recall a few months back (despite my copy having worked flawlessly with no faults in the near two years I’d owned it). Oddly, the camera was damaged by Nikon (Nikon Canada) while in their possession. Very long story short: to Nikon’s credit they replaced it with a new body. I remain very happy with the products and service.
