Had to send back the Tamron 90..did not like the slow AF and all the noise it made trying to autofocus..but plasticy feel..Traded up just a little bit for the Sigma Macro..much better..took it out of the box..went into my patio and practiced a little..the squirrel wanted to see what was going on....

Very nice results, better than any I have seen from the Tamron.

Not that much more than the Tamron and the quality is so much better..you just have to hold it to figure that out.

I held a Tamron 90mm once in a camera store, and the only impression it gave me was "cheap".
I have the Nikon 105mm F2.8 D lens and love it, but the images I have seen from The Sigma compare quite favorably. I would consider the Sigma if I ever needed to replace my Nikon.

The Sigma was between the Tamron and the Nikon cost wise...I was just having trouble reconciling dropping another 1,000 on a lens..I just did on the Sigma 400

the rodent has been a pain out there sometimes. I finally had to buy a cage type bird feeder so he can't get in there..knocks things over in the patio and breaks them. But, I have to hand it to the squirrel family..they are clever and tenacious. Once he could not get into the bird feeder he took over the Hummingbird feeder. He took the bee guards off, lined them on the patio wall and when I looked out my kitchen window this is what I saw. I couldn't believe it!

Bad Squirrel, Very Bad Squirrel
Bad Squirrel, Very Bad Squirrel...

I saw two Nature Channel programs a while back, DayLight Robbery and Daylight Robbery, Too - about what mazes squirrels will go through to get the goodies. Tenacious lil' tree rats.
