My husband and I will be in Sedona in the next couple of days. I was there a lot before I became serious about photography. I’ve seen all the sights, but what I am really looking for is a magnificent place to photograph sunrise or sunset. If you could be specific about directions I would appreciate it!! Post a pic for extra points! Thank you in advance!!

in oak creek canyon there is a great spot to hit a perfect sunset.
there are several parking areas along rt 89a.
one is opposite bell rock.
park there and take a brief hike up to a flat area that faces due east.
the sunset there is magnificent.

My wife and I hired a guide who is the brother of one of her coworkers. He picked us up in a Jeep. We had a full day including sunset. I can send you his contact info if your interested. PM if this interests you. Our day was better than a pink Jeep tour. Our guide is retired navy and works part time with Pink Jeeps. Knows his stuff.

The Airport for sunrise AND sunset can be spectacular. Timing is also key for sunrise and sunset...low angle sun produces the best saturated colors on the rock formations.

Cathedral Rock. Any local can tell you how to get there. I was told this is the most photographed site in Sedona.

Thank you. I appreciate the help. Was this shot in that area? The sun is setting behind you?
