This is a typical restaurant where UK residents go for a good tasty meal.

Years ago I had the best fish and chips from a small restaurant in San Francisco run by some ex-pats from the UK. They used newspaper to wrap the fish and chips, which my mother said she used to get in England when she was young.

Fish, Chips, and mushy peas. Can't be beat. One sheet clean white paper, newspaper for insulation. Never figured out why the clean white sheet because I'd invariably get the newsprint on both hands and carry on eating. Little wooden disposable forks didn't arrive until my childhood.

I do feel for our American friends on this issue. I don't think you can count tilapia as a fish even though some restaurants maintain it is.

John, I'm getting hungry just looking at the photo. I do notice a difference in spelling on the sign. Is that just their take on Palace, or something else. A friend on this side of the pond has an inquiring mind.

I can answer that (as I'm already here). It's PLAICE, as in the fish being used as Palace. You get a few shops using the fish name like this, the CODFATHER being a popular one.

Thanks, John. First time I've heard, or read, of that fish. Codfather I could have understood. My personal favourite fish is Perch.

Flounder or Cod for me, never Tilapia.
