Hi al, I am looking into purchasing he Nikon D850. It looks like no one has this in stock and you need to pre-order the camera. My question is has anyone ordered this through Adorama and what was your wait time to get the camera? The sales guy told me 1-2 weeks but then that was a sales person. I'm a &H fan bit they hint 3 months or more due to the backlog.
Cheers

Which dealer will have a D850 first, and which cheap stock will be worth a fortune next year? If only we had answers.

Similar articles go back to August. The camera is in high demand, and manufacturing can go only so fast.

They must have just received their shipment with few folks on the pre-order list to getit that fast. The guy told me that there were only 5 on the list when I talked to them but they didn't have any in stock then. Well you have had it for a couple weeks, are you happy with the D850? I did order mine through Adorama, I hope I don't have to wait too long, big expence for a retired guy.

I really haven't had a chance to put it thru it's paces as the weather has been so bad here. The shots that I took around the house are very impressive in low light.I know what you mean as I am also retired.

Who knows? No one really knows. Generally speaking as the inventory grows and demand gets less waiting times COULD go down. But no one knows for sure. Many smaller camera stores have them in stock. The trouble is finding a small store that has one. And, you can get one now if you want to pay EXTRA on ebay. PATIENCE my friend, PATIENCE. All good things come to those that wait.

This link is the best list that I've found; but is only as good new owners' inputs. Knowing how many are on a waiting list of the big stores may be unreliable. Some buyers put themselves on several lists, then cancel when one delivers. Example: When a few buyers get their D850 from Adorama, the B&H waiting list gets shorter.

Thanks all for the input, patience isn't one of my virtues though. I should have worded my post a little differently. Who has received their D850 in the past 30 days, where did they order it from and how long was the pre-order wait?

A friend had a D850 on order with BH. He got tired of waiting. Contacted this company and received the D850 in less then a week. He might have just got lucky.

If you have any authorized Nikon dealers near you walk in the door and ask. A friend of mine walked into a Boston area store to ask how long the list was and the clerk reached behind the counter and placed an unopened box on the counter. He had to pay the local sales tax, but that's the price for being first I guess.

“Greentoe is the way to go.” I had an excellent experience with them when I purchased my Canon 16-35mm f4 L a couple months ago.
