Thank you, both. Actually I was hoping that it would have gotten stuck in the ice and an ice breaker would have come along,,,great photography

Yes although we did not get hit by your storm, we paid for it with windchill down to -40°

Then they would have said, "We'll wait a couple of hours and trek back on the ice to shore."

Reminds me of some less-than-full-capacity types driving their cars out on the ice over Lake Michigan off the Chicago shore.

Up here they drive out to the ice fishing shacks and in one place there is an ''ice bridge'' where they drive acros, saves many miles in the winter

A lot of ice fishers in the Chicago area, but they do it on the lakes around other than Lake Michigan at Chicago ( 50 Nautical miles direct to Michigan City, roughly across the bottom tip.) When I lived there, I've read news reports about the CFD and the CPD having to go out and rescue those who have run out of gas or found that "soft spot".

My daughter lived out near The Thumb and it was the same thing there...There is also a bill to pay too
