As one of the older (but more recent member) of the Hogs, I happened to find in my all-too-large collection of old cameras and lenses, a Nikon TC-16a teleconverter. Looking on line, it does not appear to be a currently produced item. Can anyone tell me if it can be used with any of the lenses I use on my D-800? I use the 28-300, the 70-200 VRI, the 16-35, the new 24-70 VR, the older 80-400, the 80mm 1.8, the 105 Macro, the 50mm 1.4 and a few others. From what I could find online it may require some modification to work with modern lenses.
mir.com.my has a tc16 page. Pretty limited use
Thank you. I'll look at it.

Great link on a piece of equipment I've never heard of ...
Thank you. I should have checked there first, I guess, as I use Ken Rockwell's site often. He lives here in La Jolla but I have never met him.

Its a great AF TC, except for the fact that it does not work with digital cameras.
It is very different than any other TC in than it allows the user to AF older MF lenses on Nikon AF film cameras. I have one I use with my F5 and F100 bodies and some of my favorite old MF lenses.
It CAN be modified to work with digital cameras by relocating one of the AF contact pins, there is a you tube video showing you how but I have never attempted it and I no of no one making that conversion commercially anymore.
Thank you. I have read about people modifying it to work but I'm not sure I'd get much out of it even if I was able pull off the modification. I'll just have to put it in with the five old Nikon cameras it was stored with and figure maybe, someday, I will try to sell the old stuff. Having shot Nikon since 1965, I have accumulated quite a lot of stuff. I traveled often to Japan and would buy this and that odd attachments just to try them out. I have close-up attachment filters, bellows attachments and a number of other stuff I have not used in over 35 years.
