Was out looking for something to take a picture of. Constructive criticism welcome.
The problem in your creek photo, and I see it in other shots, is it is too "busy". There is too much in it with no point to focus on. While in your mind's eye, you saw something interesting, it doesn't come out in the 2D photo.
In the last one, the pole through the horse's head is distracting. Also, the depth of field is way too deep. I would have taken that right down to f2.0, focusing on the eye. Another shot would be to come in close, again with a large aperture, and fill the screen with the horse's head in order to remove the background.
Sorry for sounding mean, but it is difficult to get good shots when everything is dull brown. A keeper is something I am proud to show everyone because it is art. A snapshot is something I share of common interest to my friends and family. Keep shooting.
Joe, you are not mean. You are right. Everything here is brown and VERY dry. The telephone poles are the bane of my existence. They are everywhere except along the road where they belong. I will keep trying.
