Heard about an old cemetery on Cedar Key, FL that has a good owl population. Does anybody know where it is located.

It's not a very big town... you can walk to most of it. Quite a few photo ops. Good place for food too!

I live about an hour from there and went on a photo trip with my camera club a few years back to an island offshore that had a cemetery but I'm not sure if that's what you were referring to. Cedar Key is fairly small and caters mostly to fisherman and local tourist. It's also been beaten up in recent years by some storms and looks more decrepit than it used to. Some have claimed that Cedar Key is what Key West looked like in the old days but being very familiar with Key West, I don't think it ever looked like Cedar Key. Make sure that to try the clam chowder at Tony's Seafood Restaurant which is in town and not on the water as are the other eateries which did not impress me. I get up there off and on mainly taking out of town guest to a unique spot on the Nature Coast.

The mainland cemetery is located 12499 Gulf Blvd (as close as I can get with the google maps 'little man'). There is another cemetery on Atsena Otie Key in the Cedar Keys Nat. Wildlife Refuge but it is only accessible by boat. (I have been to the mainland cemetery, but not to the small one on Atsena Otie Key.) I think the one on the mainland is the one with the owl population of which you speak. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replys. Went there today and found the cemetery, no owls but I got some great shots of a osprey with it's large fish lunch. It reminds me of the old Florida of the 50's and 60's. Can see damage from latest stroms but repairs seem to be coming. Plus on a cold January day we had some of the best hot chocolate we have ever had. Worth the trip.
